TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –
A total of 22 University of Alabama student-athletes are slated to receive their degrees Saturday, Dec. 13, when UA holds its winter commencement at Coleman Coliseum, including 14 members of the Crimson Tide’s 2014 Southeastern Conference Champion football team.
A total of 14 football players are set to receive degrees Saturday, including seven – All-SEC Trey Depriest, Christion Jones, D. J. Pettway, Malcolm Faciane, Isaac Luatua, Leon Brown and Josh Dickerson – who have earned bachelor’s degrees. The remaining seven – All-SEC Arie Kouandjio, Jalston Fowler, All-SEC Austin Shepherd, Brian Vogler, Nick Perry, Daniel Geddes and MK Taylor – earned their master’s degrees.
Kouandjio, who was named a Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-American earlier this month, leads the list of 22 Crimson Tide players who will have their degrees in hand when Alabama takes the field against Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.
A member of the Crimson Tide gymnastics team’s 2011 and 2012 NCAA Championship squads, the 2013 NCAA vault champion and seven-time All-American Diandra Milliner will receive her degree on Saturday as will All-American swimmer Vlad Caciuc. Swimmers Hunter Hinson, Stephanie Kinsey and George Wong will all graduate Saturday as will Hannah Merrill (rower), Caitlin Bernardin (volleyball) and Claire Turner (track and field).
Saturday’s ceremonies will be broadcast live over the Internet. The webcast will be archived on UA’s Web site, www.ua.edu, and will be available for viewing for approximately 30 days following the ceremony.
