Despite facing one of the most statistically impressive defenses in the nation, the Alabama offense was able to put up one of its most impressive performances of the season, including 264 yards and 4 touchdowns through the air. Freshman wide receiver Amari Cooper was on the receiving end of 6 catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns and while Cooper said he and his fellow receivers had respect for the Notre Dame defensive backs, his gameplan was never based around one-on-one matchups.

ESPN analysts: Notre Dame will beat Alabama thanks to goal line defense
Alabama will head into the BCS Championship Game as heavy favorites over No. 1 Notre Dame but two of the talking heads over at ESPN see a major matchup advantage for the Fighting Irish that could give them an edge against the Crimson Tide. Notre Dame’s goal line defense was one of the best in the nation this season and whether defending the pass or the run, the Irish have been difficult to score on with their backs against the wall.
Report: LSU coach Les Miles has a "serious offer" from Arkansas
According to a report from Times-Picayune/NOLA.com on Tuesday a source close to LSU confirmed that Arkansas is pursuing LSU head coach Les Miles for the vacant Arkansas head coaching position. The offer is reportedly for five years and $27.5 milliion. “They made a serious offer,” the source said “(Athletic Director) Joe (Alleva) is meeting with his (Miles’) agent and the discussion is ongoing.” Earlier on Tuesday sports blogger SportsbyBrooks tweeted that he “has learned Arkansas is engaged w/ reps of the interests of Les Miles & a $5-yr $27.5M offer is on the table.” The tweet did not cite any sources.

Alabama’s highlight reel in the 2012 Iron Bowl is a lengthy one but no play stood out more than Amari Cooper’s second-half touchdown that illustrated the freshman wide out’s big play capabilities. Cooper took what could have been a relatively simple first down reception and ducked under three Auburn defenders to break free for a 29-yard touchdown and into our Alabama Play of the Week archives.

Nation’s top recruit Robert Nkemdiche’s decommits from Clemson, coach says
The nation’s No. 1 football recruit, Loganville, Georgia defensive end Robert Nkemdiche, is back on the open market for college recruiters. After reports emerged Wednesday night that Nkemdiche had decommitted from Clemson, the five-star recruit’s high school coach Mickey Conn confirmed to various recruiting websites that the elite defender is no longer committed to the Tigers.
