TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Crimson Tide Foundation, the fundraising arm of University of Alabama Athletics, is proud to announce the unveiling of its dynamic new website: www.crimsontidefoundation.org. The purpose of this new website is to provide supporters of Alabama Athletics with complete information about the numerous and varied giving opportunities that also will have the greatest possible impact.
“Our new Crimson Tide Foundation website allows our fans, friends, alumni and donors to carefully select those needed areas of giving that will continue to build on our winning tradition,” said Bill Battle, Director of Athletics. “Their giving will allow our athletics department to recruit great student-athletes and coaches, as well as maintain and build championship facilities.”
The new website has updated and complete information about athletics funding priorities, as well as information about how to support Alabama Athletics through philanthropic gifts. A new online giving feature allows donors to direct online credit card gifts to any existing fund, including sport-specific gift funds and/or endowments with an A-to-Z listing of accounts.
The site makes donating simple, as donors can find easy-to-use instructions for giving to the Crimson Tide Foundation via credit card, check, stocks/securities, wire transfers, etc. Donors also may initiate a multi-year pledge with the Crimson Tide Foundation in support of those funds, or to indicate intent to establish a new one.
The website’s new format allows supporters to track progress toward particular departmental fundraising goals, such as donations to Alabama’s redevelopment of Sewell-Thomas Baseball Stadium or money for annual scholarship support. The site features a new Sewell-Thomas Stadium “Construction Cam” that provides updated images of construction progress every two seconds.
The site’s new “Endowed Scholarships” section provides supporters with context for the department’s long-term goal to endow all Athletics scholarships through funding of endowments, by sport and by support group, with progress-to-date information and a “Give Now” feature to impact those numbers.
The Crimson Tide Foundation was established in 2005 to help ensure that the University maintains the level of excellence expected by its supporters for years to come. Its purpose is to promote and encourage a continuing interest in, and loyalty to, the intercollegiate athletic programs at the University of Alabama; to support the staff of the University’s Department of Athletics in their efforts to coordinate, develop, maintain and improve a superior intercollegiate athletics program at the University.
As the Athletics Department at the University of Alabama is self-sustaining, all private gifts contribute directly to the needs of our student-athletes, coaches and staff. Therefore, the Crimson Tide Foundation provides a venue through which loyal alumni, fans and friends can give financial support to the Athletics Department, while capturing all the current tax benefits allowed by the IRS.
Private support enables UA Athletics to increase its standing, in both athletics and academics, over competing universities beyond what can be accomplished with annual revenue from ticket sales, media rights and other licensing agreements.
