Gilmer 2015 four-star cornerback Kris Boyd has had quite a week.
First, the 6-foot-1, 185-pounder tweeted the news Tuesday of his newest offer from Oklahoma State, which pushes Boyd’s offer list to 14 total schools.
Boyd (pictured above), who Scout ranks as the No. 10 overall recruit in the state’s 2015 class, got huge news Saturday evening when The Opening announced that he had been invited to next month’s elite football recruit showcase at Nike’s headquarters in Beaverton, Ore.
Boyd is the fourth East Texan to get an invitation to The Opening, joining three Texas A&M commits: Gladewater five-star defensive tackle Daylon Mack, Whitehouse four-star safety Justin Dunning, and Sulphur Springs four-star safety Larry Pryor.
Another piece of huge news happened Thursday at the TCU satellite camp in Kilgore. That’s where New Boston 2015 athlete Jeff Gladney ran consecutive 4.34-second 40-yard dashes as timed by the camp’s coaches, then committed to the Horned Frogs as a cornerback following the camp’s conclusion.
Gladney, who had gotten attention as a receiver and a defensive back, picked TCU over offers from North Texas, Northern Illinois, Rice, Texas State, UTSA, and Tulsa.
Then there came the late-breaking news Sunday evening of Texarkana Texas High 2015 receiver Jarion Anderson committing to Tulsa.
“Welp I’m officially verbally committed to to the University of Tulsa,” Anderson said via Twitter. “Just wanna thank God and my family.”
Anderson also holds Central Arkansas and Southern Illinois offers at the FCS level, but has gotten recent interest from FBS programs such as Arizona, Arkansas State, Louisiana-Monroe, Missouri, and Oklahoma State, with which he camped this past weekend.
In other news, Canton 2015 defensive end Sam Miller continued to be a popular target for college recruiters. The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder picked up a Tuesday offer from Arkansas State, then got a Big 12 offer Wednesday from Kansas State and a Thursday offer from UTEP.
That trio of offers pushes Miller’s full list into double figures.
