At the end of the regular season Alabama had a 11-1 record, had clench the SEC Western Division Title and earned a trip to the SEC Championship. With a victory in the SEC Championship game, Alabama would get a shot to win back to back National Championships by playing the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
