As has become common, the Alabama-LSU game was decided in the final moments again this year in Death Valley. The Crimson Tide trailed the Tigers late into the fourth quarter. With only a few minutes left in the game and being down by 3 the Alabama defense made a stop and forced a missed LSU field goal. Alabama took possession of the ball with only 1:34 left in the 4th quarter for what would be their last opportunity to score and avoid defeat. AJ McCarron, who had an lackluster second half performance, went under center to lead the Tide in this final drive. He went on to complete 3 passes to Kevin Norwood to march down the field and get into scoring position. Then from the LSU 28 yard line AJ McCarron completed a short screen pass to freshman running back TJ Yeldon. Yeldon took the screen pass and forged a path to the end zone for the winning touchdown, closing another memorable chapter in the rivalry against LSU.
