It didn’t take long for college football’s new helmet rule to come into play Saturday in the second-ranked Alabama football team’s season-opening 41-14 victory over No. 8 Michigan. Crimson Tide outside linebacker Adrian Hubbard had his helmet come off one a third-down play during Michigan's first possession. That should have meant he had to come out of the game for one play, but a Michigan player was penalized instead for a grabbing-the-facemask penalty.
