Opposing fans around the SEC have spent plenty of time discussing what the right strategy might be to defeat No. 1 Alabama but former Tennessee quarterback Erik Ainge put forth his own idea on how the Volunteers can defeat the Tide this weekend on his radio show yesterday on Tennessee Sports Radio. "I say it all the time. Nasty, attitude, get after it. Do something crazy," Ainge said. "The first time AJ McCarron drops back, tell one of your boys you've got fifteen on this one. He's got a sore knee, go step on it."
This is completely classless and Erik Ainge knows it. I'm sure he's just trying to do the shock jock thing just for the sake of getting higher ratings for his show. Still that is just pathetic. But in reality this is really what it has come to for the Tennessee Volunteers. The only chance they have at beating Alabama is to take the New Orlean Saints' route to victory. Ainge should be ashamed of himself but I know he isn't because creating controversy is exactly what he had in mind when he made that statement. Lamichael Fanning suplexing a Missouri player last week is one thing. But Fanning didn't intentially try to hurt anybody, he just got fired up all of a sudden and went beast mode for a moment on that play. But advocating that players should intentially try to injure other players is just a sleazy thing to do and it's also a reckless thing to say.
