No. 1 Alabama enters its Saturday showdown at No. 5 LSU in a familiar position. For the sixth consecutive time, the Crimson Tide is listed as the Las Vegas casino favorite over the Tigers, according to freshly released odds at BetOnline.com. Alabama opened as a 7-point favorite, but the line now sits at 8. Alabama was last an underdog to LSU in 2007, Nick Saban's first season. During that span, though, the Crimson Tide is just 3-2 against the Tigers.
Alabama has played well so far this season, far exceeding initial expectations considering all the NFL caliber talent they lost in the draft earlier this year. With the numbers this team (with a lot of young players) is putting up, the Crimson Tide looks to be headed towards another championship season like a freight train at full speed. LSU by comparison has underachieved considering they were favored by many to win the title this year but now already have one loss on their record just 8 games into the season with their game against Alabama still yet to be played. That said I am still surprised that the line on this game is as wide as it is considering it is a home game for LSU. But we shall see. ROLL TIDE!
