The latest reports indicate that Marcus Lattimore's knee was dislocated with some ligament damage, but no fractures. Medical experts speculate that this is a good sign that his days on the football field may not be over yet. Of course he still has a long road ahead of him in terms of surgery and rehabilitation and the prospect of the damage being too significant for him to return is a distinct possibility depending on the severity of the ligament damage. If he gets lucky on the ligament damage aspect of this injury, I think he has the support system he needs to stick it out and have a chance to some day return to college football and perhaps still joins the ranks of the pros.
Will he ever be the same Marcus Lattimore again? We won't know that answer for many months, or maybe even a year or two. But it is heartening to see the outpouring of support that he is getting from all over the sports world regardless of team or sports affiliations. Nobody ever wants to see an athlete go down like this, especially not an athlete that has so much potential for greatness like Lattimore does. At this point I think we can be cautiously optomistic that we haven't seen the last of Marcus Lattimore just yet and can only hope and pray for more good news in the future.
