It looks like former Auburn coach Gene Chizik is a big believer of home-field advantage, at least when it comes to rivalry games.
Chizik, who appeared on the College Sports Today show on Sirius satellite radio, predicted a 10-2 record for Auburn in 2014.
Chizik, who coached at Auburn from 2009-2012, said the defending SEC champions will fall in Tuscaloosa to Alabama.
“That’s almost one of those 50-50 deals,” Chizik said, according to 247Sports. “If the game was at Auburn, I would pick Auburn.”
Chizik is no stranger to playing in Tuscaloosa. It was his 2010 team, led by Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Cam Newton, which went 14-0 and won the BCS national championship. One of those wins included overcoming a 24-0 deficit to beat Alabama 28-27 in Tuscaloosa.
He also predicts a loss at home to South Carolina.
“I think South Carolina will get them,” he said, noting the Gamecocks are loaded.
Of course, the last time we saw Chizik he was staring down his daughter’s prom date in a picture that went viral in April.
So, Auburn fans, how does 10-2 sound?
