NCAA president Mark Emmert is on the stand today to testify for the defense in Ed O’Bannon’s class-action antitrust case against the NCAA, and he made an interesting statement:
Emmert was not the first to say so in the trial, which is now in its second week. Last week, former CBS Sports president Neal Pilson said essentially the same thing.
There is no stronger college football fan base than right here in Alabama. So what about it? If college football players received some form of compensation beyond a scholarship, would you be less interested in the sport? Would you stop rooting for Alabama or Auburn if T.J. Yeldon or Nick Marshall received some of the proceeds when their names or likenesses are used commercially?
