BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Signing day 2012 offered a blast from the past: The ability to offer multi-year scholarships. The Big Ten encouraged its schools to give football recruits four-year scholarships and many did. The SEC didn't do as much prodding but at least two schools — Auburn and Florida — said they gave extended financial-aid agreements. The new NCAA rule could offer greater protection to players from getting their scholarships revoked due to how they play.
