Alabama swimmer Kristel Vourna reached the semifinals in her first Olympic race Saturday in London, but she fell short hours later of advancing to the finals of the 100-meter butterfly. Swimming for Greece, Vourna finished seventh out of eight swimmers in the second of two semifinal heats. Her time of 58.31 seconds. That time was better than three swimmers who competed in the first heat. So the 20-year-old finished 12th in the competition. The top eight swimmers will compete for medals on Sunday.
