Vlad Polyakov, one of six Olympic athletes with University of Alabama connections, competed Saturday in the pool at the 2012 London Games. Swimming for Kazakhstan, Polyakov finished third in his heat in the preliminaries of the men's 100-meter breaststroke and failed to advance to the semifinals.
