Alabama C Barrett Jones and Georgia LB Jarvis Jones have joined a short list of SEC players who have earned consensus All-American status twice. The NCAA compiles a consensus All-American team for its annual record book, using a point system to determine the best of the best from the major selectors to produce a definitive All-American squad for each season.
Three Alabama players are one step closer toward becoming unanimous, first-team All-Americans. Linebacker C.J. Mosley, cornerback Dee Milliner and Chance Warmack are now 4-for-4 on NCAA-recognized All-American teams, as they each landed a spot on the Associated Press’ team, which was released today. Center Barrett Jones was also included, giving him the title of a consensus All-American and helping Alabama land an NCAA-best four players on the AP team. Right tackle D.J. Fluker made the AP’s second team while quarterback AJ McCarron landed a spot on the third team.

It’s hard to find a 2012 All-American team that doesn’t include Alabama’s Barrett Jones, Chance Warmack and Dee Milliner. ESPN.com’s was no different. The inclusion of Jones, Warmack and Milliner ties Alabama with Texas A&M for the most representatives on the team. Jones and Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones are the only players who made the cut two years in a row.
Senior center Barrett Jones and senior guard Chance Warmack seem to be the Alabama football players most often appearing on midseason All-America lists. The two star linemen are first-team picks by Sports Illustrated, ESPN, Phil Steele and the Sporting News.
She also is the first female golfer from any school to win the award.

Alabama’s two most experienced offensive linemen garnered top recognition from Sports Illustrated today, as both Barrett Jones and Chance Warmack were named to the magazine’s preseason All-American team. Jones, last year’s Outland Trophy winner, and Warmack, a potential first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, have barely missed a snap since the 2010 season. Jones, the Crimson Tide’s new center who has previously started at tackle and guard, has been a regular starter since 2009.
