Bama pulls away from Stillman in second half
After Stillman held a one-point lead at the half, the University of Alabama came out strong in the closing period, winning 76-68 in a men’s basketball exhibition Tuesday night. The Crimson Tide seemed disjointed at times in the first half, but a strong second-half effort led to a double-digit lead. Even though Stillman made a run late in the game, Alabama was able to hold on.

Gueye scored 14 points. Jacobs came off the bench and had a team-high 16 points in 19 minutes.

The Alabama basketball team warmed up for its Friday opener against South Dakota State with a 76-68 victory over Stillman College on Tuesday night in Coleman Coliseum.
Alabama Men’s Basketball Defeats Stillman College, 76-68
Alabama sophomore Nick Jacobs had a team-high 16 points and five rebounds as the men’s basketball team defeated Stillman, 76-68, in Coleman Coliseum on Tuesday night. “I thought Stillman came in and did a very good job with the tempo that they played at in the first half,” head coach Anthony Grant said. “I thought in the first half, we were sloppy from an offensive standpoint. We made a lot of mistakes defensively, which gave them opportunities. We knew coming into the game that they were a very good and well-coached team, and that they would play with a lot of confidence and freedom. I thought in the second half, we settled down a little bit.”

In its final dress rehearsal before the 2012-13 season opener, the Alabama basketball team looked as if it was having a little wardrobe malfunction in the beginning. The Crimson Tide had to rally from a six-point first-half deficit to defeat Stillman College 76-68 Tuesday night at Coleman Coliseum.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – Trevor Releford scored 18 points and Tony Mitchell added 17 Thursday night to lead Alabama (10-3) to a 72-55 victory over Jacksonville (2-10) at Coleman Coliseum. Afterward, each player had much to say about junior center Mousa Gueye, who made his Alabama debut late in the game. The 7-foot-, 280-pound junior college transfer has been recovering from August knee surgery.

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama – The Alabama basketball team held its first scrimmage of the 2011-12 preseason today at Coleman Coliseum. The scrimmage was open to the public and attracted a crowd of approximately 1,500 people. They first look at five freshmen plus six returning players, including starters JaMychal Green, Tony Mitchell and Trevor Releford. Green sank several outside shots and Mitchell had a few dunks.
