On AJ McCarron, the Bear and Ara era and more from Nick Saban’s first postseason press conference
Besides giving an injury update and trying to kill speculation that he might return to the NFL, Alabama coach Nick Saban touched on many other subjects Tuesday in his post-practice press conference. He talked about quarterback AJ McCarron’s decision to return in 2013 for his senior season and then was asked if any other juniors are likely to announce their 2013 intentions soon. “Probably not,” Saban said.
Saban gives injury report
Tuesday evening, Alabama head coach Nick Saban provided status updates on all injured players, including Barrett Jones, Kenny Bell and Jarrick Williams, who made his re-debut at practice.

Vols’ offensive line the best Tide has faced this year ‘by far,’ Nick Saban says
Tennessee has a big offensive line that Nick Saban called “very physical.” “They’ve got three or four guys that have played a lot of football and are really experienced,” the Alabama football coach said Monday, looking ahead to a 6 p.m. CDT game Saturday at Knoxville, Tenn.

Derek Dooley didn’t talk much about Alabama during his Monday press conference. The Tennessee coach spent the majority of his 30-minute press conference discussing the ways his 3-3 team needs to improve in order to pick up its first conference win of the season. But when he did bring up the Crimson Tide, his words were as similarly strong as the numerous other opposing coaches who have heaped praise on Alabama during the week leading up to the game. “We all know about Alabama,” he said. “They’ve been the standard in college football in the last four years.”
