TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – FloTrack kicked off its Saucony Flo50 XC Countdown on Monday, counting down the top 31 men’s and 31 women’s teams heading into the 2015 season, with the Alabama women coming in at No. 31.
The Crimson Tide return all scorers from last season’s third place showing at the NCAA South Regional. Alabama has finished third in consecutive NCAA South Region meets, just missing out on qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
Senior Katelyn Greenleaf, a three-time All-NCAA South Region honoree, and junior Hannah Waggoner produced top-15 performances at the SEC Championships and NCAA South Regional last season. Seniors Kimberley Ficenec and Rebecca Stover also finished inside the top 50 at both of those meets. Meropi Panagiotou, a senior who earned All-NCAA South Region honors in 2013, and University of Texas transfer Rachael Reddy, who won gold in the 5k at the 2015 Pan American Junior Championships, add depth to this season’s roster.
Alabama begins the 2015 season on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at the Samford vs. Alabama Dual in Birmingham, Ala.
