BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – The competition to see who ends up being Alabama’s 2015 quarterback signee – if there is one – appears to be coming to a close.
Three quarterbacks are visiting Alabama this week. Two are from California and the other is a longtime USC commit. Anaheim’s Travis Walleris in Tuscaloosa now and Corona’s Blake Barnett is getting there later this week. Also, 247Sports reported that David Sills, who committed to USC in 2010 (yes, 2010), is visiting. The Elkton, Md., quarterback is not listed as having an Alabama offer by 247Sports. Waller and Barnett have offers.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Waller recently named a top four of Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Northwestern. He does not yet have an offer from Ohio State, but said he would announce his decision on July 1.
Barnett, a Corona, Calif., native, was a longtime Notre Dame commitment, but recently backed off. Most recruiting services feel that Barnett is an Oregon lean.
Barnett is visiting Alabama, Georgia and LSU in the next week. He has been offered by Alabama.
“Alabama is definitely recruiting me hard and they let me know I’m their number one guy,” Barnett told 247Sports. “They were telling me I could come in and compete and they think I could excel in their offense.”
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Travis Waller inched closer to ending his recruitment on Monday night.
Waller, a 4-star quarterback on the 247Sports composite, announced his top four schools (in no order): Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Northwestern.
He also said that he plans to announce his school on July 1.
The 6-foot-4, 195-pound Waller threw for 1,669 yards and ran for 1,293 yards as a junior at Servite High School in Anaheim, Calif., last season.
“He’s a very dynamic kid running the ball,” Servite head coach A.J. Gass told AL.com on May 20. “Athletically, he’s like a linebacker in the backfield. When he’s got to stand back and throw, he’s got great arm strength and tremendous accuracy. He’s truly one of the best dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation.”
Waller is visiting Alabama this week, per 247Sports. Alabama offered Waller in May.
Anaheim, Calif., quarterback Travis Waller remains a hot target for the Crimson Tide. He has Alabama among his favorites, along with Notre Dame and Northwestern, and tweeted that he would make an announcement at 9 p.m. central. BamaOnline reported that Waller would visit Tuscaloosa this week.
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Alabama recently offered Anaheim, Calif., 4-star quarterback Travis Waller, but now the signal-caller has added another big program to the mix.
Waller got offered by Notre Dame on Thursday. He previously told rivals.com that his top two were Alabama and Northwestern, but Notre Dame has jumped right up there. He has no order for the top three.
“With Notre Dame in there, it would be Notre Dame, Alabama and Northwestern,” Waller told Rivals of his new top three. “I’ll be getting out there in June for sure because I’m going to make my decision in July.”
Blessed to receive an offer from Notre Dame!

“Coach Bryant always taught us we were special and never to accept being ordinary. I think that is one thing that has sustained Alabama through the years. Players with ordinary ability feeling somehow, someway they would find it within themselves to make a play to help Alabama win a football game.”
