PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Alabama junior Erin Routliffe was forced to retire in the second set of her first consolation match vs. UCLA’s Catherine Harrison on Friday afternoon at the 2015 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships. Harrison was leading 6-0, 4-0 when Routliffe retired.
Harrison had all of the momentum early, winning six consecutive games to take the first set, 6-0. Things remained the same in the second set, as Routliffe dropped four consecutive games before ultimately retiring down, 0-6, 0-4 . Harrison advances to face the winner of Colorado’s Tina Bokhura and Florida’s Josie Kuhlman on Saturday. The winner of the consolation draw will earn a spot in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships scheduled for November 12-15 in Flushing Meadows, N.Y.
Routliffe was the lone representative for the Alabama women’s tennis team at the 2015 ITA All-American Championships.
